A little of the Vision behind the page!
As a kid, I was blessed to grow up in kids ministries where the teachers and leaders didn't do the norm. This meant I had inspiring teachers who didn't just read us a story or lesson, but they poured their heart and time(lots of time) into each lesson, game, craft, or activity. I got saved when I was young and am so thankful for the impact in my life that kids ministries had. Maybe you are not an idea's person or crazy, but that is okay I can share some of mine with you haha, jokes aside hopefully you can find some useful ideas and resources here. Let's make an impact on the next generation for Christ!
The start of the Journey God has taken me on with ministry!
When I was 13 my Pastor's wife (Mrs. Carver) from Sonshine Baptist Church pulled me aside one day and told me that she wanted me to teach the 2-3-year-old's class during the Sunday morning service. She gave me 2 weeks to sit in and watch someone else teach, than handed me the class(threw me in the deep end, but not to swim but teach and lead a class). I had my sister as a helper (which was great because I was not a arts & crafts teen, but she was) and an adult to sit in (because we were to young). I got to learn to create ideas as I didn't have a ciraculaum to use, which was the training ground I needed.
The Lord put some amazing people in my life.
- Mrs. Carver - Was my teacher when I was in Children's Church she always taught in fun ways. Than she got me teaching.
- Erica Carver - Create her own themes for the term with real-life adventures at the end (but even some of the adventures had a life lesson in) in Sonshine Kids.
- My Mum - Has always been a back bone in my ministry with her prayer support and just helping me get back pack up when I make a mistake or get discouraged. Plus she is aways helping me behind the scenes with prep and cutting things.
- Shelly (aka) Floater - Was from a group that came over from New York to do camp SCUBA (holiday kids cub) when I was 13. Wow! she taught me how to lose myself (to teach kids) she was a character.
- Tammy (aka) Boss Floss - She made Bible Bluey (but back than it was not blue hair but a real red afro) we did skits Tammy would write for the lessons in kids club
- Pastor Joe & Melissa - Opened the door for me to train some young people to teach & let me do crazy things, and have encouraged me to share my ideas that God has blessed me with.
